Writing

I’ve got several story ideas and compositions in various states of completion and development. As I’ve said previously, my main focus is on the fantasy genre, sword and sorcery. I’ve got some other ideas that include science fiction, comedy, etc.

There are pieces that I’m currently working on.

The Four Arcs of the Oblivion Key

  • Book One: The Horn of Marax: the next big project on my plate.  Intended as a five or six part series.  As always, I appreciate feedback.
  • Book Two: The Hammer of Kos
  • Book Three: The Eye of Orobas
  • Book Four: The Crown of Beleth
  • Book Five: The Destroyer’s Key

Other Works

  • Sleeper in the Stone: Currently in draft status v3.  This is a piece focused on my favorite fantasy race, dwarves.  I’ve got a lot of new ideas and its loosely based on the Scandanavian myths on Fafnir.  If you are interested in reading this, contact me via email.
  • Short Story #1: Merrily Onto Erebus: the first submission for the short story competition held by the The Age (Melbourne newspaper).  Warning: It’s heavy in symbolism and literary allusions.  Hope you enjoy it and I’d love to hear feedback.  Thanks!
  • Right Behind The Rain: a collection of essays, reflecting back on my childhood in Oklahoma and particularly my family.  I’m intending for it to be read either as individual pieces or as a narrative whole.  This work is more of a personal exploration than anything else.

Archives: Here’s a summary of projects that I’ve been working in the past.  I’d consider them still first draft which means that they are unedited.  Don’t write to tell me that there are typos.  I’ll write back to tell you that your butt stinks.  It’s considered a given.

  • The Taivasar: I wrote this piece after a campaign I played with a long-time player.  I expanded it and conceived it as a much longer story in three parts.  It introduces a servant class of magical warriors.  For some inexplicable reason, I used Finnish as my language base.  [download PDF | 258Kb]
  • Wren Hob: This is written in a fable style focused on a small border town of Medelune.  I start to explore the land of Alluine in this piece.  Its inspiration was taking the characters from the Hundred Acre Wood and putting them into a fantasy setting.  See if you can spot the characters.  In this piece and the second one below, I did extensive research in Old English / Saxon for the place names, etc.  [download PDF | 128Kb]
  • Lord Abelaine: A continuation in the realm of Alluine with a focus on the blossoming nobility and peerage.  I tried to work the concept of a paladin and a developed fantasy church along the lines of the medieval Catholic church.  Of course, whenever your dealing with religion and crusaders, you’ll see some messianic themes as well.  [download PDF | 161Kb]
